| After a record-breaking 398 calls for service in 2025, the members of the Jenkintown Fire Department are on pace to top this number thus far in 2026. Through June 30, we have responded to 193 calls for service (186 at this point in 2025), of which this includes 124 calls within the Borough of Jenkintown and 69 mutual aid responses. These mutual aid calls for service have included responses into Abington, Cheltenham, Lower Moreland, Hatboro, West Norriton and Horsham. Total time in service has been 78 hours and 29 minutes. These responses have included numerous different call types and also represents a 35% dispatch rate of box assignments- which to us signifies a higher potential of a high-acuity call.
As of June 30, the Pioneer Fire Company has seen 31 different members respond to a call for service with 15 individuals currently meeting our statistical requirements to be considered active crew.
Our members have completed hundreds of hours of training, including at; our in-house drill program on Thursday nights, our in-house driver-training program, Montgomery County Fire Academy, Bucks County Public Safety Training Center, and the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.
On the horizon, we have two members anticipating beginning the basic fire academy to meet their entry-level interior firefighter certification. Would you like to join them as the newest firefighter serving your community? |
