| Throughout the month of August the members of the Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department conducted a series of drill trainings focused on Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations. This culminated with a night of RIT scenarios where our members were able to put all of these skills together and practice rescuing a lost or downed firefighter.
RIT is a critical safety measure in the fire service—teams are specially designated and equipped to rescue firefighters who may become trapped, lost, or injured while working inside a burning structure.
During the drills, crews practiced locating downed firefighters, performing emergency air supply procedures, victim packaging, and executing rapid extractions from hazardous environments. The training ensures that if one of their own encounters trouble during an incident, a dedicated team is ready to respond immediately.
Our department regularly incorporates such scenarios into our training schedule to maintain readiness and reinforce our commitment to both firefighter safety and community protection. |
