| 2025 End of Year Report Sees Record High Call Volume |
| January 7, 2026 | |
| 2025 was record year for the Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department, with the highest recorded call volume in department history. The department responded to 398 calls for service, including 96 dispatches for reported building fires. While 242 of these calls for service occurred in Jenkintown, the department responded to 156 mutual aid requests for service into the neighboring municipalities of Abington, Cheltenham, Rockledge, and Lower Moreland. Pioneer Fire Company members were in-service for 6,802 minutes (113 hours) during the year. With 2,808 individuals responding to the above number of calls, we averaged seven persons per call. Notably, on February 17 the company responded to the SPS Technologies Fire with 16 members of the company conducting operations on scene. Additionally, members participated in over 120 hours of department drill, including four live-fire burn sessions during the calendar year. The general membership also received 22 hours of certificate training from the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center- in addition to the hundreds of accrued hours of certificate training taken by individual members throughout the calendar year. As we embark on another year of service, we thank our members and our mutual aid partners for a safe and successful year. As always, we are actively recruiting additional members who would like to join us in our mission of providing excellent fire protection service to Jenkintown as well as to our mutual aid partners. |
