As we enter the warm weather months, the Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department is actively seeking new volunteers to join our ranks. The two companies of the JVFD are 100% volunteer organizations which rely on members of the community to answer the call. While our primary focus is on potential applicants which have the inclination to attend trainings and become certified firefighters, we are also open to individuals that are interested and can support our operation administratively.

Throughout the commonwealth, the number of volunteer firefighters has decreased by 90% in the past 50 years. While Jenkintown is still protected by a dedicated crew of volunteers and have not seen the worst of this statistic, we also have seen a decline in our active membership.
